- Official Brand Launch at The Sustainable Fashion Expo in Japan
From our Kickstarter experience and the response we had from Japan, we understood that our fashion handbags and environmental concerns resonated with the Japanese people. We believe our philosophy blends perfectly with Japanese culture where nature is respected through a spiritual bond that reflects a desire to live harmoniously with nature.
For the Official launch of iFarmaissance in Japan we chose The Sustainable Fashion Expo, Japan’s first specialised show focused on "Sustainable Fashion". The focus was on items and materials, centring on “sustainability” such as ethical, recycled, eco-Friendly from around the world and attracting attention from visitors and virtually from consumers and industry buyers looking who look for innovative sustainable products and materials.
From our Founder Jennifer Gardner @jc.gardner had this message for our Japan iFarmaissance community:
“No single individual can bring about positive climate change effectively. I have designed my own personal action plan to achieve as much influence as possible.”
“We would like to invite you all on the decarbonisation journey to make a change. Together. For our future. Because it’s that future that’s ours to shape and design”.

Our Materials
We selected Biobased Leather Alternatives to produce our bags to raise awareness about Climate, Biodiversity and Nature.
What is Biobased Leather Alternatives? It's a plant-based and refers to leather-like material that is wholly or partly derived from the food waste or by-products from agriculture - biomass, originally from plants or trees. iFarmaissance uses a variety of biomass sources such as grape residue from the waste of the wine making process and apple residue from the leftover pomace and peel from the fruit juice and compote industry, as well as pineapple leaf fibres and regeneratively grown cactus.
Our founder’s assignment of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge is now supported by The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel, in conjunction with The HKSAR Innovation and Technology Commission for R & D Biobased leather alternatives with the professors of City University of Hong Kong to bring this plan to life in a real life scenario and to contribute to a Decarbonisation Solution for the World.
