grappaSac Official Launch at Kickstarter & Our Founder completed @CISL, University of Cambridge course – Business & Climate Change: Towards Net Zero Emissions
- grappaSac Official Launch at Kickstarter
grappaSac officially launched on Kickstarter reaching our funding goal inside the first 4 hours. Within 5 days we had over 330+ backers which was a really satisfying result justifying the many months of hard work we put in to developing the grappaSac.
We weren’t sure if everyone would love the grape biobased leather material or our sustainable vision as much as we did but the amazing support we received really validated our choices., and we are extremely grateful that so many people joined with us to bring grappaSac to life!
- Our Founder completed the @CISL, University of Cambridge course – Business & Climate Change: Towards Net Zero Emissions
Our Founder Jennifer completed this course which she described as very demanding, with challenging assignments and requiring considerable reading and research outside of the course material.
With the support of @cambridgeuniversity and the valuable interaction with fellow students however, it was a valuable and enjoyable learning opportunity. A truly wonderful experience!
In Jennifer’s own words - “I gained so much from the course. It’s not just about developing my own knowledge on climate change and a low carbon transition, but implementing a way in which you can influence and collaborate with others to bring necessary change to meet our net zero goals”.
“No single individual can bring about positive climate change effectively. I have designed my own personal Action plan to achieve as much influence as possible.
I would like to invite you all on the decarbonisation journey to make a change. Together. For our future. Because it’s that future that’s ours to shape and design.”

Our Materials
We selected Biobased Leather Alternatives to produce our bags to raise awareness about Climate, Biodiversity and Nature.
What is Biobased Leather Alternatives? It's a plant-based and refers to leather-like material that is wholly or partly derived from the food waste or by-products from agriculture - biomass, originally from plants or trees. iFarmaissance uses a variety of biomass sources such as grape residue from the waste of the wine making process and apple residue from the leftover pomace and peel from the fruit juice and compote industry, as well as pineapple leaf fibres and regeneratively grown cactus.
Our founder’s assignment of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge is now supported by The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel, in conjunction with The HKSAR Innovation and Technology Commission for R & D Biobased leather alternatives with the professors of City University of Hong Kong to bring this plan to life in a real life scenario and to contribute to a Decarbonisation Solution for the World.
