The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of iFarmaissance products is a continuing process. LCA is used to evaluate the environmental impact of a product through its life cycle encompassing the growing and processing of the raw materials, manufacturing, distribution, use and final disposal.
The LCA of all our products is never completely resolved, the changing nature of each step of the process makes constant monitoring of these steps essential and demands an innovative approach to examine, change and evolve our products to meet the standards essential to protecting our natural environment.
Resources: This begins with the earth in which we grow our food and material resources and graze our animals. These resources include organic cottons, and regenerative agricultural plants and their waste residues.
Material processing: We are then able to create or source finished plant-based materials that are currently the most eco-friendly alternatives available on the market today.
Product Manufacturing: We then design our products in such a way as to take best advantage of these unique materials and their qualities to produce timeless, durable handbags and accessories.
All the factories we use are subject to regular Environmental and Social Audits and products are inspected at all stages of production for quality control and quality assurance purposes.
Distribution: Distribution remains an issue for all companies producing products for the global market. We seek out “green solutions” wherever we can and use carbon offset programmes to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Consumer Use: We take our customers use and enjoyment of our products very seriously. From initial packaging to ensure safe delivery to carefully designed and tested care instructions, the condition and longevity of the products throughout the lifetime of our customers use is our primary concern.
End of Life: At iFarmaissance this is the step that we are placing great importance upon. Ideally to complete a full life cycle, “cradle to cradle” approach, all products should be completely biodegradable or be capable of re-use as an input into the production of new materials. To date, this is not possible, but we are monitoring international research completing our own R & D on materials and processes that will produce this result. This is our ultimate aim.
